Paralympic champion delivers another commanding performance in the F64 category, leading India’s strong medal surge.
India’s para-athletics team produced a powerful display at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix, with star javelin thrower Sumit Antil once again stealing the spotlight by clinching gold in the men’s F64 javelin throw event.
The two-time Paralympic champion dominated the field with a 68.26m throw, comfortably securing the top spot and continuing his remarkable run in international para-athletics competitions.
Antil, widely regarded as one of the world’s best para javelin throwers, maintained control throughout the event, keeping his rivals well behind. His victory highlighted India’s growing dominance in para-sports, as several Indian athletes also finished on the podium during the Grand Prix.
Speaking after the win, Antil emphasised consistency and focus in his performances.
“My aim is always to improve my distance and stay consistent. Every competition is an opportunity to get better,” he said.
The Haryana-born athlete has been rewriting record books in recent years. The F64 world record holder with a throw of 73.29m, Antil has already won multiple major titles, including Paralympic gold medals and World Championship victories.
India’s impressive showing at the Grand Prix once again underlined the country’s rising strength in para-athletics. With athletes like Antil leading from the front, the nation continues to build momentum on the global stage.
For Antil, the gold medal is another step in an already glittering career—one that continues to inspire a new generation of para-athletes across the country.
