Everton’s away form could shake up title race

Everton’s impressive away record under David Moyes could play a crucial role in the Premier League title race. As they prepare to face league leaders Arsenal, the Toffees’ strong performances on the road have raised the possibility of a surprise result that could reopen the championship battle.

Strong away run under Moyes

Since Moyes returned to manage Everton 14 months ago, the team has become one of the most effective sides away from home. Everton have won 12 away matches during that period, second only to Arsenal in the league.

The team is currently unbeaten away since mid-December and has won four of its last five matches on the road. Their most recent victory came against Newcastle United, with midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall playing a key role in the 3-2 win.

Everton now sit eighth in the table and just five points behind the top five, a remarkable turnaround considering they were close to the relegation zone when Moyes returned.

Winning at difficult stadiums

This season, Everton have already secured victories at some challenging venues. They defeated Manchester United at Old Trafford in November and ended Aston Villa’s long home winning streak at Villa Park earlier in the year.

Their defensive organisation and disciplined approach have been crucial. Everton average only 39.3% possession in away games, the lowest in the league, yet remain difficult to break down.

The team has also shown exceptional defensive strength from set-pieces, conceding no goals from corners or free-kicks away from home this season.

Key players driving Everton’s success

Several players have been central to Everton’s strong away form. Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has delivered consistent performances, while attackers like Iliman Ndiaye have provided attacking threats.

Midfielder James Garner has also been one of the standout performers. The 24-year-old leads Everton’s squad in touches, tackles and chances created this season, highlighting his importance in both defence and attack.

With Arsenal leading the table and Manchester City chasing closely behind, Everton’s trip to the Emirates could prove significant. A surprise result for Moyes’ side might not only boost their European hopes but also add fresh drama to the Premier League title race.
