Premier League Roundup: Man United Beat Spurs as Carrick’s Perfect Start Continues

Manchester: Manchester United made it four Premier League wins in a row under Michael Carrick with a commanding 2-0 victory over Tottenham at Old Trafford, reviving their Champions League hopes after a turbulent start to the season.

Goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes sealed the win, with Spurs reduced to 10 men after captain Cristian Romero was sent off in the 29th minute. Fernandes’ late strike marked his 200th goal involvement for United since joining in 2020.

United, now fourth on 44 points, have already surpassed last season’s total with several games still to play. Carrick, appointed until the end of the season following Ruben Amorim’s dismissal, has quickly transformed the club’s fortunes and strengthened his case for the permanent role.

Arsenal tighten grip on title race

Arsenal moved nine points clear at the top after a convincing 3-0 win over Sunderland at the Emirates. Substitute Viktor Gyökeres scored twice after coming on in the 60th minute, taking his tally to 13 goals this season.

Martin Zubimendi opened the scoring with his sixth goal of the campaign.

Despite Arsenal’s commanding lead, manager Mikel Arteta insisted the title race is far from over. Meanwhile, bookmakers reportedly began paying out early on Arsenal lifting their first league title since 2004.

Rivals stumble

Second-placed Manchester City face a crucial test away to Liverpool on Sunday, having won just once in their last six league matches.
Third-placed Aston Villa slipped further behind after a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth, conceding an equalizer from Brazil’s Rayan after taking the lead through Morgan Rogers.

Chelsea cruise, Palmer makes history

Chelsea climbed to fifth with a 3-1 win at Wolves, inspired by a first-half hat trick from Cole Palmer, including two penalties. Palmer became the first player in Premier League history to score three first-half hat tricks.

Relegation battle heats up

West Ham boosted survival hopes with a 2-0 win at Burnley, thanks to first-half goals from Crysencio Summerville and Valentín Castellanos. Three wins in four matches have pulled them within three points of safety.

Newcastle’s struggles continued with a 3-2 home defeat to Brentford, as Dango Ouattara struck late despite a Bruno Guimarães penalty leveling the match earlier.

Everton fought back to beat Fulham 2-1 away, earning a vital three points.
