Top Performers Who Lit Up the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

The recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy once again underlined its reputation as India’s most competitive domestic T20 tournament, blending emerging talent with established stars. Jharkhand’s historic maiden title was the highlight, but the season was equally defined by a set of outstanding individual performances that shaped matches and captured national attention.

Ishan Kishan | Jharkhand

Jharkhand’s title-winning campaign was spearheaded by skipper Ishan Kishan, who produced a tournament to remember. The explosive left-hander piled up 517 runs in 10 innings at a stunning strike rate of 197.32, including two centuries and two fifties.
Kishan saved his best for the final, smashing a 45-ball hundred against Haryana, a knock that broke the opposition’s morale and sealed Jharkhand’s maiden crown.

Anukul Roy | Jharkhand

A true all-round force, Anukul Roy played a pivotal role in Jharkhand’s success. He scored over 300 runs and picked up 18 wickets, delivering impact in both departments.
His unbeaten 95 against Karnataka, achieved when no other teammate crossed 15, was one of the most remarkable innings of the tournament. With the ball, his economy rate of 7.34 highlighted his control in high-pressure situations.

Ashok Sharma | Rajasthan

Rajasthan pacer Ashok Sharma emerged as the tournament’s bowling sensation. He finished with a record 22 wickets in 10 matches, the highest tally by any bowler in a single edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Regularly touching high speeds and extracting movement, Ashok’s performances earned him a maiden IPL deal, with Gujarat Titans signing him for ₹90 lakh.

Ankit Kumar | Haryana

Haryana batter Ankit Kumar scripted a remarkable comeback in the shortest format after a tough Ranji Trophy season. He ended the tournament as the second-highest run-scorer, amassing 448 runs at a strike rate of 172.30, with five half-centuries.
Though his final ended in disappointment, Ankit’s consistency throughout the competition stood out.

Salil Arora | Punjab

Few batters matched the explosiveness of Salil Arora. The Punjab wicketkeeper-batter smashed 358 runs at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 198.88, the best among players scoring 350-plus runs.
His unforgettable unbeaten 125 off 45 balls against Jharkhand was among the most destructive innings of the season and earned him an IPL 2026 contract with Sunrisers Hyderabad for ₹1.50 crore.

A Season That Defined India’s T20 Depth

From Jharkhand’s collective rise to individual brilliance across teams, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy once again showcased the depth of India’s T20 talent. The performances of Kishan, Anukul, Ashok, Ankit and Salil not only shaped this season but also strengthened the pipeline feeding the IPL and national setup.
As Indian cricket looks ahead, this tournament has reaffirmed its role as a launchpad for the next generation of T20 stars.
