Across 20 matches in five divisions, Friday delivered high-intensity rallies, surprising exits, and convincing performances that shaped a compelling semifinal line-up for Saturday.
Men鈥檚 Singles: Top Seeds Fall as Indonesia, India Share Last-Four Spots
Indonesia produced two of the day鈥檚 biggest results. Mohammad Yusuf delivered a stunning upset, dismantling top seed Tarun Mannepalli 21-9, 22-20 to secure his semifinal berth. His compatriot Bisma Rayya Ocktora also advanced after a strong three-game win over Richie Duta Ricardo.
India claimed the remaining semifinal berths. Kiran George showcased his top form, knocking out defending champion Satish Kumar 21-11, 21-17, while Ronak Chauhan edged out Shankar Subramanian 21-19, 22-20 in a gripping all-Indian contest.
Women鈥檚 Singles: Unnati Hooda Headlines All-Indian Semifinals
Top seed Unnati Hooda continued her dominant run, beating fifth seed Anupama Upadhyaya 21-16, 21-15. Unseeded Tanya Hemanth produced one of the standout performances of the day, convincingly defeating third seed Tanvi Sharma 21-16, 21-14.
Tasnim Mir advanced after overcoming Taipei鈥檚 seventh seed Tung Siew Tong, while Isarani Barua marched into the semifinals with a win over sixth seed Anmol Kharb, ensuring an all-Indian last-four line-up.
Mixed Doubles: India鈥檚 Kanpuram鈥揢theyasuriyan Duo Advances
India secured a strong mixed doubles presence with S. Kanpuram and R. Utheyasuriyan defeating Indonesia鈥檚 M. Nawaf and Nahya Muhifa 21-15, 21-19 to reach the semifinals. They will compete alongside Tandon Pompaneech and Phungfa K, Indonesia鈥檚 D. Ferdinandshyah and B. Wardana, and top seeds M. Fazza and A. Pranata.
Women鈥檚 Doubles: Stoeva Sisters Survive Scare
Top-seeded Bulgarian pair Gabriela Stoeva and Stefani Stoeva overcame a major challenge from Indonesia鈥檚 Leni Tria Meysari and Emalia Cahaya, recovering from a game down to win 16-21, 21-12, 21-19.
Also securing semifinal spots were India鈥檚 Ashwini Bhatt and Shikha Gautam, Malaysia鈥檚 Ang Jin Yee and Carmen Ting, and Indonesia鈥檚 I. Meida and R. Nastine.
The Odisha Masters 2025 is being jointly hosted with the support of the Badminton World Federation, the Badminton Association of India, the Sports & Youth Services Department of the Odisha Government, and the Odisha State Badminton Association.
All semifinal matches will be played tomorrow, December 13, at the same venue.
