Australia and India are gearing up for the third and final ODI of their series on Saturday, October 25. The match will be held at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), starting at 9:00am IST.

What to expect from the two sides?

With a series victory already in hand, Australia are likely to test their bench strength by giving chances to players who haven’t played yet. Australia will be aiming for consistency, after trying out Matt Short, Cooper Connolly, Mitchell Owen and Matthew Renshaw. One can expect Australia stay true to their strengths.

Meanwhile, India will be looking for a consolation win after losing the first two ODIs. They were outplayed in both matches in Perth and Adelaide. India may well bring in Kuldeep Yadav in place for Nitish Reddy. This is the only change expected from the Aussies.

India and Australia’s record at the SCG

The SCG is known for its batting-friendly conditions, with the ball coming nicely onto the bat. However, fast bowlers will have to work hard to get movement and take wickets. As the match progresses, spinners are likely to come into play.

Australia have featured in 136 ODIs here at the SCG. As per ESPNcricinfo, they have managed 91 wins compared to 39 defeats. Six games have seen no results.

India have played 22 games here. They have won 5 matches in addition to losing 16 and posting one no result.

Australia own a solid 16-2 (1 no result) record over India at the SCG.

India and Australia’s H2H record in ODIs

Overall, the two sides have clashed 154 times. Australia have won 86 to India’s 58. A total of 10 games have not had any results. The two sides have met 56 times Down Under. India have managed 14 wins in Australia against the Aussies, who own 40 victories. 2 matches have witnessed no results.

Bilaterals: Have Australia ever blanked India?

Australia have never blanked India in a bilateral ODI series. So this match provides further motivation for the Mitchell Marsh-led side.

Australia beat India 3-0 in a 5-match ODI series back in 1984. This is the closest they have ever come.
