India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has sought Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s help in acquiring land in his native state, saying he wants to shift his base from Delhi and build his first home there.
Dhami responded to Pant’s appeal by assuring him that the state government would provide all possible assistance within the rules. He said the matter had been forwarded to the concerned officials, who would contact the cricketer.
Pant made the request in a post on X in the early hours of Saturday, revealing that he had been trying to find suitable land in Uttarakhand for the past three years.
Pant Wants To Return Home
The 28-year-old said his desire to acquire land was driven by his wish to return to his roots and contribute to Uttarakhand.
“I wanna move back to my native place to help and build around Uttarakhand and I want to shift back to my Pahadi people,” Pant said in his appeal to Dhami.
Pant also clarified that he was not seeking a free allotment of land. Instead, he said he wanted to purchase the property from the government at the applicable rates.
“A gift would be lovely for representing our state at the highest level internationally, but if you allow me I wanna buy it from Government and on their rates,” Pant wrote.
Dhami Assures Official Help
Responding to Pant, Dhami described him as the “pride of Uttarakhand” and praised his contribution to the state’s identity.
The chief minister said Pant’s love for his motherland and his intention to return and contribute to the state were “highly commendable”.
“Regarding the matter you have raised, instructions are being issued to the concerned officials. They will soon contact you and ensure all possible cooperation in accordance with the rules,” Dhami said.
Pant’s Uttarakhand Connection
Born in Roorkee in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar district, Pant began his cricket journey in the state before moving to Delhi to pursue the sport professionally.
He continues to represent Delhi in domestic cricket but has maintained a strong connection with Uttarakhand. His latest appeal comes as he looks to establish his first permanent home in the state.
Pant is currently with the Indian team in Sri Lanka ahead of the two-Test series against the hosts, beginning in Galle on August 15.
