Victor Osimhen Inspires Galatasaray to Dominant Champions League Win Over Bodo/Glimt

Victor Osimhen delivered another masterclass in front of goal, scoring twice and setting up a third as Galatasaray brushed aside Bodo/Glimt 3–1 in the Champions League.

The Nigerian forward was unstoppable in Istanbul, netting two clinical first-half goals before providing the assist for Yunus Akgün’s strike after the break. The win marked Galatasaray’s second consecutive Champions League victory, a feat they last achieved in December 2012.

It was also a record-breaking night for Osimhen — his brace made him the first Galatasaray player to score in seven straight European games, surpassing Burak Yılmaz’s long-standing record from 2013.

A Record-Breaking Performance

Osimhen opened the scoring early, finishing coolly into the bottom corner after Mario Lemina’s smart through-ball. His second came just before the half-hour mark when a disastrous backpass from Fredrik Bjørkan gifted him possession — and he calmly rounded goalkeeper Nikita Haikin to slot into an empty net.

The former Napoli striker could easily have claimed another hat-trick — missing two golden chances after the interval — but his relentless pressing led to Galatasaray’s third. Osimhen’s tackle on Haitam Aleesami forced a turnover that allowed Akgün to score on the rebound.

Bodo/Glimt’s Struggles Continue

Despite moments of promise, Bodo/Glimt never truly threatened the Turkish champions. Jens Hauge missed from close range, and Sondre Fet struck the post before Andreas Helmersen grabbed a late consolation header for the Norwegian side.

The result leaves Bodo/Glimt winless in the group stage, with just two points from three matches — and struggling to stay out of the elimination zone.

Osimhen the Undisputed Star

With a Player of the Match rating of 9.13, Osimhen once again proved why he’s among Europe’s most lethal strikers. His five goals in the competition already put him among the early top scorers, and his relentless energy continues to define Okan Buruk’s new-look Galatasaray.

The victory also pushes the Turkish side up to 14th in the overall standings, boosting hopes of a deep Champions League run.

“He’s a leader, a fighter, and a finisher — exactly what Galatasaray need,” said one local pundit.
