Decoding Team India’s crunch numbers in T20 Asia Cup 2025

India won their 2nd T20 Asia Cup title and 9th overall.

India defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets to win the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup title. The match in Dubai saw Team India chase down a target of 147 in 19.4 overs. India scored 150/5 in 19.4 overs with Rinku Singh hitting the winning runs. Pakistan, who were 113/1 at one stage, perished for a score of 146. They faced a major collapse to fall down like a pack of cards. Kuldeep Yadav starred with a four-fer. In response, India rode on Tilak Varma’s valiant knock of an unbeaten 69 runs from 53 balls to get the job done.

India beat Pakistan for the third time in Asia Cup 2025. They downed Pakistan by 7 wickets in the group stage before beating them again in the Super 4 by 6 wickets. And now, they overcame their arch-rivals once again by 5 wickets.

This was India and Pakistan’s 16th clash in T20Is. This was India’s 12th win against Pakistan. The Men in Green have won thrice with one game being tied.

In the Asia Cup final, Pakistan were going smooth with the score reading 113/1. Thereafter, India fought back to dismiss Pakistan for 146. They lost 9 wickets for 33 runs.

India were 20/3 in response with Pakistan thriving. Thereafter, Varma, Sanju Samson (24) and Shivam Dube (33) got the job done.

India win their 9th Asia Cup title

Team India won its 9th Asia Cup title. In terms of the T20 edition, this is India’s 2nd honour. They last won the title in T20 version back in 2016. The remaining of India’s Asia Cup honours have come in the ODI version. India’s Asia Cup wins have come in 1984, 1988, 1990-91, 1995, 2010, 2016, 2018, 2023, 2015).

Kuldeep Yadav excels with the ball

Kuldeep started his Asia Cup 2025 journey with a spell worth 4/7 against UAE in the group stage. He then managed 3/18 against Pakistan and 1/23 versus Oman. In the Super 4 stage, he managed 1/31 against Pakistan and then rattled Bangladesh with a three-fer (3/18). Versus Sri Lanka, he bagged 1/31 and now in the final, he managed 4/30.

As per ESPNcricinfo, Kuldeep bowled 25.1 overs in the Asia Cup 2025 from 7 matches, conceding just 158 runs. He posted an average of 9.29 and an economy rate of 6.27. He claimed 2 four-fers and two three-fers.

Abhishek Sharma wins Man of the Series

Indian opener Abhishek Sharma bagged the Man of the Series award for his consistency with the bat. He ended up scoring 314 runs from 7 innings at an impressive 44.85. He hit six 30-plus scores, including three straight 50s. All of his 50s came in the Super 4 stage. He missed out in the final, scoring 5 runs off six balls before Faheem Ashraf got him out. He owned a strike rate worth 200 in the tournament.

As per Cricbuzz, earlier in the Super 4 match against Sri Lanka, Abhishek became the 5th batter with 300-plus runs in a T20I tournament/series (Full-Member teams). He also became the 6th Indian batter with 3 successive fifty-plus scores in T20Is. Abhishek also finished with the most runs as a batter in an edition of the T20 Asia Cup.
