Bangladesh’s historic 2-0 Test series sweep over Pakistan has resulted in significant gains for several players in the latest ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings. The series victory, which also boosted Bangladesh’s standing in the World Test Championship, saw both batters and bowlers climb sharply in the updated rankings.
Veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim emerged as one of the biggest gainers after scoring a series-high 259 runs across four innings. The experienced right-hander jumped 10 places to reach joint 16th in the ICC Test batting rankings.
Fellow Bangladesh batter Litton Das also enjoyed a strong rise, climbing 14 spots to 24th after amassing 239 runs during the series.
Bangladesh’s bowling attack was equally rewarded following the dominant series performance. Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam moved up two places to 11th in the ICC Test bowling rankings while also achieving a career-best rating. Off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz climbed to 25th, and fast bowler Nahid Rana surged 10 places to 54th.
Taijul also made progress in the ICC Test all-rounder rankings, rising three spots to 29th following his match-winning performances against Pakistan.
Despite the disappointing series defeat, Pakistan did receive a positive boost as pacer Khurram Shahzad returned to the ICC Test bowling rankings in 49th place after his comeback appearance in the Sylhet Test.
Bangladesh’s emphatic triumph over Pakistan has also strengthened their reputation in Test cricket, with the team climbing to seventh in the ICC Test rankings — their highest-ever standing in the format.
