Real Madrid’s troubled season took another dramatic turn after angry supporters confronted club president Florentino Perez during their La Liga clash against Real Oviedo.
Despite securing a comfortable 2-0 victory, the atmosphere inside the Santiago Bernabeu was far from celebratory. Fans directed their frustration toward both the club hierarchy and several star players following a disappointing campaign that saw Madrid miss out on major silverware.
Bernabeu Crowd Erupts Against Perez
The confrontation reportedly unfolded near the presidential box before kickoff. Supporters were seen shouting at Perez while banners reading “Florentino, go now” and “Florentino, guilty” appeared inside the stadium before security staff removed them.
The anger comes after a frustrating season for the Spanish giants, who failed to win La Liga and suffered an early UEFA Champions League exit. Barcelona’s title triumph only deepened the dissatisfaction among Madrid fans.
Star Players Face Heavy Booing
The tension was not limited to the club president. Several Real Madrid players were booed during warm-ups and throughout the match, with Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe receiving the harshest treatment from supporters.
Vinicius was jeered almost every time he touched the ball, while Mbappe also faced whistles from sections of the crowd after returning from injury.
Pressure Mounting Inside Real Madrid
The unrest arrives during a turbulent period for the club. Perez recently announced upcoming club elections while also launching strong criticism against rivals FC Barcelona and Spanish refereeing standards.
Reports of dressing-room tensions, fan protests and growing criticism of the management have added to the pressure surrounding the 15-time European champions.
With only a few games remaining in the season, the mood around the Bernabeu appears increasingly tense, raising serious questions about the club’s direction heading into next season.
