Wigan Warriors Women delivered a commanding performance to crush York Valkyrie 52-0 in the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup semi-final at Halliwell Jones Stadium, booking their place in the prestigious final at Wembley Stadium on 30 May 2026.
From the opening whistle, holders Wigan imposed their authority with relentless intensity. By the end of the first quarter, they had already built an 18-point lead, courtesy of early tries from Ellise Derbyshire and Mary Coleman. The Warriors’ superior fitness, physicality and cohesion were evident throughout, leaving York struggling to contain their high-tempo attack.
Half-back Isabel Rowe was the standout performer, amassing 20 points — a tally that included eight successful conversions and a try of her own. Her tactical kicking and composure under pressure kept Wigan in control at every stage of the contest.
Key contributors on the scoreboard included Derbyshire and Coleman, each crossing for two tries, while Jenna Foubister, Ruby Hunter and Anna Davies also touched down during a dominant display.
At half-time, Wigan led 24-0, and they never let up after the break, adding further scores to increase the margin and deny York any foothold in the match. The Valkyrie defence, normally recognised as one of the strongest in the women’s game, was repeatedly breached as Wigan maintained their attacking ruthlessness.
The result continues Wigan’s impressive cup run this season and underscores their status as favourites heading into the final, where they will face the winner of Sunday’s semi-final between St Helens and Leeds Rhinos.
