Ritchie Set For Glasgow Move After Injury-Hit Season In France
Jamie Ritchie will return to Scotland this summer after agreeing a two-year deal with Glasgow Warriors, ending his short stint with Perpignan.
The 29-year-old back-row forward is set to strengthen a Glasgow side undergoing significant changes, with several key players including Jack Dempsey, Adam Hastings聽and Huw Jones all departing at the end of the season.
Return After Injury Setback
Ritchie鈥檚 time in France has been marked by both leadership and injury challenges. After joining Perpignan from Edinburgh Rugby, where he spent 11 years, he was quickly appointed captain in his debut season.
However, his campaign was interrupted by a leg injury sustained during Scotland鈥檚 Six Nations win over England in February, ruling him out for two months. He later returned to action and resumed captaincy duties as Perpignan battled to avoid relegation from the Top 14.
Despite being only a year into his contract in France, Ritchie opted for a move back home, with reports suggesting a desire to be closer to his family played a key role in his decision.
Warriors Rebuild Underway
Head coach Franco Smith is reshaping the Glasgow squad ahead of next season, and Ritchie鈥檚 arrival brings valuable experience and leadership.
He will be joined by South African forward Ruwald van der Merwe and Australian utility back Bayley Kuenzle as part of the club鈥檚 recruitment drive.
