Australia has announced a strong and experienced squad for the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 2026, with stars like Nicola Olyslagers, Kurtis Marschall and Jessica Hull leading the team into the global competition in Toruń, Poland from March 20–22.
The Australian squad features six global medallists, highlighting the country’s growing strength in indoor athletics and raising expectations of multiple podium finishes.
Two-time defending world indoor champion Nicola Olyslagers will be one of the biggest attractions at the championships as she targets a historic third consecutive indoor high-jump title, having previously won gold in Glasgow 2024 and Nanjing 2025 before also claiming the outdoor world crown in Tokyo last year.
Olyslagers will be joined in the high jump by fellow Australian star Eleanor Patterson, the 2022 world champion, who finished world indoor silver behind Olyslagers in 2025, setting up another intriguing battle between the compatriots.
In the pole vault, Kurtis Marschall arrives in strong form after recently clearing the six-metre barrier, becoming only the fourth Australian to achieve the feat. Confident about the highly competitive field, Marschall said:
“There’s already been six guys over six metres this year, which is the most in history. It might even be the case that you jump six metres and miss out on a medal.”
On the track, Olympic 1500m silver medallist Jessica Hull will compete in both the 1500m and 3000m, hoping to add to the world indoor 3000m bronze she won in Nanjing and the 1500m bronze at the Tokyo World Championships.
Australia’s squad also includes rising talents such as Liam Adcock (long jump), Peter Bol and Bob Abdelrahim (800m), Adam Spencer (1500m), Michelle Jenneke (60m hurdles), Linden Hall (3000m), and Hayley Kitching (800m), giving the team depth across both track and field even.
With several proven medallists and emerging talents in the lineup, Australia heads to Toruń with high hopes of another successful campaign on the global indoor stage.
