The Super Eights stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 will get underway on February 21, with Pakistan taking on New Zealand in Colombo to kick off the high-stakes second phase of the tournament.
The eight qualified teams have been split into two groups, with all sides starting from zero points as no results or net run rate from the group stage are carried forward.
Group 1 comprises India, Zimbabwe, West Indies and South Africa.
Group 2 features Pakistan, Sri Lanka, England and New Zealand.
The opening Super Eight fixture on February 21 will see Pakistan face New Zealand in Colombo, setting the tone for what promises to be a fiercely contested round. Defending champions India will begin their campaign against South Africa in a much-anticipated rematch of the thrilling 2024 final on February 22.
Each team will play three matches within their group, with the top two advancing to the semi-finals. With only three games to determine qualification, every match carries knockout intensity.
India head into the Super Eights unbeaten after defeating the Netherlands by 17 runs in Ahmedabad. A blistering 66 off 31 balls from Shivam Dube propelled India to 193/6, while Varun Chakaravarthy’s tight spell ensured the team maintained its winning momentum.
Beyond the immediate push for the semi-finals, the Super Eight teams have also secured automatic qualification for the 2028 edition, to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
With February 22 marking the start of the decisive phase, the Super Eights promise blockbuster clashes as India and the other contenders battle for a place in the final four.
