THANE, Maharashtra: In a feat that has drawn admiration across the country, seven-year-old Reyaansh Sanika Deepak Khamkar has become the youngest Indian to complete a 30-kilometre solo swim in the Arabian Sea — a challenge that even seasoned swimmers approach with caution.
According to a report by Rediff, Reyaansh completed the demanding swim on 15 November 2025, covering the stretch from Malape Jetty to Vijaydurg in Sindhudurg district in 7 hours, 30 minutes and 11 seconds. The effort has been officially recorded in the World Book of Records, marking a significant milestone in Indian open-water swimming.
The young swimmer battled open-sea currents and waves for more than seven hours before reaching the finish point. As reported by Rediff, Thane Mayor Sharmila Pimpalolkar described the achievement as “a matter of pride” for the city.
Reyaansh trains under coach Kailash Akhade at the Starfish Sports Foundation and has already built an impressive résumé. NewsArena reported that he has won 13 medals across state, national and international competitions in the past year. At the age of six, he had earlier completed a 15-km open-sea swim, earning recognition in the India Book of Records, as noted by Rediff.
He has also represented India at the Asian Open Schools Swimming Championship in Bangkok, competing against older swimmers — another indication of his rapid rise in the sport.
For a child barely out of primary school, conquering 30 kilometres in open sea conditions is not just a record — it is a statement of discipline, endurance and extraordinary promise.
