San Francisco : San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Keion White has undergone surgery after being shot in the ankle in an early-morning incident in San Francisco. The shooting reportedly occurred just after 4:00 a.m. local time, and authorities have confirmed the injury is not life- or career-threatening.
In an official statement, the 49ers said:
“Keion White was a victim of a shooting and sustained a bullet wound to his ankle… He is currently undergoing surgery at a local hospital.”
Police stated the gunfire followed a verbal altercation between two groups, noting that White was not believed to be involved in the dispute. No arrests have been made, and the case remains under investigation.
The 27-year-old defensive end had attended Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium, where the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 29–13. White previously played for the Patriots before being traded to the 49ers in 2025.
Across his NFL career, White has played 47 games (20 starts), registering 100 tackles, 7.5 sacks, nine passes defended, and two forced fumbles. Including playoffs, he made 11 appearances for San Francisco last season.
This marks the second shooting involving a 49ers player in the past 18 months, following Ricky Pearsall’s injury during a robbery attempt in 2024.
