New Delhi : Indian sport witnessed a busy and encouraging day across disciplines, with badminton players Isharani Baruah and Mithun Manjunath registering solid victories at the BWF Thailand Open, while the spotlight stayed firmly on Gukesh Dommaraju, R Praggnanandhaa and Arjun Erigaisi at the prestigious Tata Steel Chess Tournament in the Netherlands.
At the Thailand Open in Bangkok, Isharani continued her impressive run, producing a composed performance to move ahead in the women’s singles draw. Mithun Manjunath too delivered under pressure, sealing a crucial win in men’s singles to keep India’s campaign alive at the Super 500 event. With several top Indian shuttlers already in action this week, the results provided a timely boost ahead of tougher rounds to come.
Meanwhile, at Wijk aan Zee, the Tata Steel Chess Tournament remained intense for the Indian contingent.
