Liverpool: Andy Robertson, one of Liverpool’s most influential players over the last decade, has once again addressed speculation over his future at the club — and the veteran left-back admits that while his heart is at Anfield, his long-term future is far from decided.
The Scotland international, who joined Liverpool from Hull City in 2017 and has won multiple trophies including two Premier League titles and a Champions League, is now in the final five months of his contract. With no new deal agreed yet, Robertson acknowledges that decisions still lie ahead.
“Yes… but it’s a difficult question,” Robertson said when asked whether he wants to stay at Liverpool beyond this season. “I’ve got five months left and we need to see what the option is to stay or if there’s options to go.”
Despite the uncertainty, Robertson is clear about one thing — he wants to play football, not just sit on the bench. After the summer arrival of Milos Kerkez, the 31-year-old has started just a handful of Premier League games this season, and admits that regular playing time is a major factor in his thinking.
“Footballers want to play and if anyone is happy to sit on the bench, then they don’t belong at any club,” he added, emphasising his competitive drive.
Robertson also spoke emotionally about what Liverpool has meant to him and his family, saying he’s trying to enjoy being a Liverpool player while weighing his future with his loved ones.
As one of the club’s vice-captains and a fan favourite, Robertson’s words have resonated deeply across Anfield, with supporters hoping that the legendary full-back’s story at Liverpool isn’t over yet.
With contract talks still ongoing and nothing formally decided, Robertson will assess his options in the coming months — balancing loyalty, playing time, and family priorities before choosing his next chapter.
