Noida : Greater Noida turned into the epicentre of world boxing as the World Boxing Cup Finals 2025 got underway at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex, marking the season-ending event of the global boxing calendar. The prestigious tournament brought together 130 top boxers from 18 countries, underlining India’s growing stature as a major host of international sporting events, according to DD News / News On Air.
The finals featured competition across 20 weight categories — 10 each for men and women — with only the highest-ranked boxers from earlier World Boxing Cup legs earning the right to compete. The event followed previous stages held in Brazil, Poland and Kazakhstan, making Greater Noida the decisive battleground for global honours, as reported by News On Air.
Hosting the finals for the first time, India fielded a strong contingent, headlined by world champions and emerging talents. Speaking at the opening ceremony, officials of the Boxing Federation of India said the event reflected the country’s rapid progress in boxing infrastructure and international performance, a view highlighted by DD News On Air.
The five-day tournament not only showcased intense bouts inside the ring but also vibrant cultural programmes during the opening ceremony, giving international athletes a glimpse of Indian tradition and hospitality.
