The quarter-final line-up for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 is now confirmed, promising a series of high-stakes encounters as Africa’s premier football tournament enters its decisive stage.
Defending champions Ivory Coast aka Côte d’Ivoire and record seven-time winners Egypt headline an imposing last-eight line-up, which also includes former champions Senegal, Cameroon, Nigeria, and Algeria, alongside resilient Mali and tournament hosts Morocco.

The eight nations earned their spots following an action-packed Round of 16. Egypt secured their place with a hard-fought extra-time victory over Benin, while holders Côte d’Ivoire maintained their title defence with a convincing 3-0 win over Burkina Faso. Hosts Morocco, buoyed by home support and their historic FIFA World Cup semi-final run, edged past Tanzania to progress.
Senegal, crowned champions in 2021, continued their strong form with a win over Sudan, while Mali advanced on penalties against Tunisia despite playing much of the match with ten men.
Nigeria impressed in a commanding victory over Mozambique, highlighted by a brace from Victor Osimhen, while Algeria needed extra time to see off DR Congo, with substitute Adil Boulbina scoring a late winner.
The quarter-finals promise thrilling contests:
Senegal vs Mali (Jan 9) – An all–West African showdown, with 2021 champions Senegal facing resilient Mali.
Morocco vs Cameroon (Jan 9) – Hosts Morocco take on five-time African champions Cameroon in what promises to be a fiercely contested match
Nigeria vs Algeria (Jan 10) – A clash of continental heavyweights kicks off Saturday’s action.
Egypt vs Ivory Coast (Jan 11) – A blockbuster encounter between the tournament’s most successful nation and the defending champions.
Winners will advance to the semi-finals as the race for continental supremacy heats up in Morocco, setting the stage for more drama, passion, and memorable moments in African football.
