Liverpool defensive plans
Liverpool are set to sign Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez for a fee that could rise to £43m, according to the Daily Mirror. The 21-year-old Ecuador international is viewed as a long-term investment as the club looks to refresh its defensive options.
Roma eye Salah return
Roma are interested in bringing Mohamed Salah back to Italy, but a move is unlikely before the summer, reports La Repubblica. The 33-year-old winger remains under contract at Liverpool and no formal approach has been made.
Manchester United monitoring targets
Manchester United are tracking Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet, according to Sky Sports. Separate reports from Football Insider suggest the club may also consider selling Bruno Fernandes if the right offer arrives.
West Ham and Chelsea activity
West Ham continue to pursue Fulham winger Adama Traore, though wage demands could complicate negotiations, as per the Telegraph. The club have also agreed a deal to sign Lazio striker Taty Castellanos for €29m, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Chelsea are considering a move for Santos defender Souza, with AC Milan currently leading the race, reports AS. The club are also monitoring Genk midfielder Konstantinos Karetsas, according to the Daily Mirror.

Inter Milan want to make Manuel Akanji’s loan move from Manchester City permanent, reports Gazzetta dello Sport. Bayern Munich are open to selling Leon Goretzka in January, with interest from Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United, according to the Mail.
Newcastle are expected to approach Toulouse for defender Dayann Methalie, while Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace are tracking Wolves forward Jorgen Strand Larsen, according to the Telegraph.
