Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green was involved in a brief courtside confrontation with a New Orleans Pelicans fan during his team’s 124-106 win in Louisiana. The incident occurred after Green was called for a shooting foul while guarding Herbert Jones. As players prepared for the free throws, Green walked directly toward a supporter who appeared to taunt him with open arms and a grin.
Match officials quickly stepped in and moved Green away from the conversation. After the game, the 35-year-old said the fan repeatedly called him a woman. Green said the remark seemed like a joke at first but became irritating when it continued. He added, “I got four kids and one on the way. You can’t keep calling me a woman.”
Fan explains his version
The supporter was identified as Sam Green. He said he did not use profanity and instead chanted the name of WNBA forward Angel Reese because Draymond had several early rebound chances but had not scored. Sam Green said it was “unnerving” when the Warriors forward walked off the court toward him, but security only issued a warning and allowed him to remain in his front-row seat.
Reactions from Warriors
Draymond Green has had previous run-ins with spectators, including a $25,000 fine in 2022 for using obscene language toward a fan. Reflecting on the latest exchange, Green said the confrontation settled once he got closer to the supporter, adding, “It’s fine. We move on.”
Warriors coach Steve Kerr said he did not hear what was said between the two but was content that the moment did not escalate. Kerr noted it would have been better had security arrived slightly earlier, but he had no issue with Green addressing the fan briefly.
