The Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) is back for its 11th edition, beginning on Sunday, 9 November, with a triple-header to start the action. The tournament once again brings together the best Australian and international stars for a fast-paced month of franchise cricket.
Teams and format
Eight sides will contest the season — Adelaide Strikers, Brisbane Heat, Hobart Hurricanes, Melbourne Renegades, Melbourne Stars, Perth Scorchers, Sydney Sixers, and Sydney Thunder. A total of 40 league matches will be played until 7 December, followed by three knockout games to decide the champion.
Renegades defend their crown
Melbourne Renegades enter as defending champions after their memorable win over Brisbane Heat in last season’s final — their first-ever title in WBBL history. Captain Sophie Molineux and coach Simon Helmot will be keen to repeat that success this year.
How the knockouts work
The top four sides from the group stage advance to the knockout phase. The team finishing first in the standings secures a direct spot in the final on 13 December.
