Bhubaneswar: India made a powerful splash at the Asian Rowing Championship 2025 in Hai Phong, Vietnam, clinching an impressive 3 gold, 5 silver, and 2 bronze medals to finish among the top nations.
Leading the charge, Balraj Panwar struck gold in the men’s single scull, while the quartet of Kulwinder Singh, Navdeep Singh, Satnam Singh, and Jakar Khan dominated the men’s quadruple scull (M4X). The Tyagi brothers—Lakshay and Ajay—added the third gold in the lightweight double scull, showcasing perfect coordination and rhythm.
India’s women rowers too made headlines, as Gurbani Kaur and Diljot Kaur earned silver in the lightweight pair, ending a 15-year medal drought for Indian women at this level. Other silvers came from strong finishes in men’s lightweight and open categories, while the bronze medals rounded off a balanced performance.
The Rowing Federation of India (RFI) hailed the results as a “reflection of India’s growing depth and discipline on Asian waters.” With the 2026 Asian Games on the horizon, these oars of glory have set the course for a new wave in Indian rowing.
