Bhubaneswar: Amanda Anisimova produced a scintillating display of power and precision to stun defending champion Coco Gauff 6-1, 6-2 and storm into the China Open final in Beijing. The American, seeded third, needed just 58 minutes to dismantle Gauff, showing complete dominance from the very first game.
Anisimova raced to a 5-0 lead in both sets, leaving the top-seeded Gauff struggling to find rhythm. The 23-year-old, who has already reached the Wimbledon and US Open finals this season, now leads Gauff 2-1 in their head-to-head meetings.
“It was one of those matches where everything just clicked,” Anisimova said after her emphatic win. She will now face either Jessica Pegula or Linda Noskova in the title clash as she aims to cap her resurgent season with another major trophy.
With this commanding performance, Anisimova reminded the tennis world that she’s not just back — she’s better than ever.
