Tennis legend Novak Djokovic reached the US Open 2025 semi-finals with a four sets win over Taylor Fritz. The Serbian ace, who extended his win-loss record over Fritz to 11-0 in their career H2H meetings on the ATP Tour, set up a crunch semi-final clash against Carlos Alcaraz at the Flushing Meadows in New York.
For the 4th successive Grand Slam event in 2025, Djokovic has reached the semis. He will now be aiming to reach his maiden final this season. This is also the 7th instance of the Serbian maestro reaching the semis on all 4 occasions at Slam events in a calendar year (2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2021, 2023 and 2025).
53 semi-final appearances for Djokovic at Grand Slams
Djokovic, who edged past Fritz 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4, reached a record 53rd semi-final at Grand Slams.
Earlier from 52 semi-final appearances, he reached the final on 37 counts. He is 24-13 at Grand Slam finals.
The 24-time Grand Slam winner in men’s singles, is aiming for a record-extending 25 wins. His last Grand Slam victory came in 2023 at the US Open.
Most semi-finals at Majors in the Open Era, surpassing Evert
As per Opta, Djokovic steered clear of former women’s singles ace Chris Evert for the most semi-finals at Grand Slam events in the Open Era. During her illustrious career, Evert reached 52 semi-finals at Grand Slams. Her record at the US Open was amazing. She reached the semis on 17 occasions out of 19 campaigns. She progressed to the final nine times from these 17 semi-final appearances, winning the trophy six times.
Notably, Evert went on to win 18 Grand Slam titles in her career. She finished as a runner-up on 16 occasions. Overall, she reached the final on 34 occasions.
