Patna : In a proud moment for Indian hockey and the state of Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar unveiled the official mascot, “Chaand,” for the Hero Asia Hockey Cup 2025 at a grand ceremony held at Sankalp, 1 Anne Marg, Patna. The tiger-themed mascot symbolizes strength, courage, and honor and serves as a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Major Dhyan Chand on whose birth anniversary the tournament will begin, a day celebrated across India as National Sports Day.
This is a historic occasion as Bihar hosts the prestigious men’s hockey Asia Cup for the first time, with top teams from across Asia converging at the international hockey stadium in Rajgir Sports Complex from August 29 to September 7, 2025. The unveiling of “Chaand” and the launch of the “Trophy Gaurav Yatra” that will promote the event across Bihar mark the beginning of a grand celebration of hockey, blending rich heritage with soaring ambitions. The event promises to spotlight Bihar’s growing prominence in international sports and honor the legacy of Major Dhyan Chand, inspiring young athletes and fans alike.
