New Delhi : On India’s 79th Independence Day, Olympic medallist and celebrated shooter Manu Bhaker offered a poignant and unique tribute to the nation by playing the Indian national anthem on her violin. The video was shared on her official Instagram handle, beautifully capturing her emotional connection to the tune closest to her heart.
“An attempt to play the tune that is closest to my heart this Independence Day. Each time I represent India, I wish to stand on the podium and listen to this. Generally, we sit and play the violin, but this time subconsciously, we stood up while playing the National Anthem. It’s the admiration for our nation that cannot be put into words. Jai Hind!” Bhaker captioned the video.
The heartfelt musical tribute resonated deeply with fans and admirers, drawing praise for her multi-talented expression of patriotism. Social media echoed with comments acknowledging the immense talent in young Indian women, with users hailing her as an inspiration beyond her boundaries in shooting.
Manu Bhaker is no stranger to making history. At the 2024 Paris Olympics, she became the first Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal, clinching bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event. She went on to secure a second bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event alongside Sarabjot Singh, marking India’s first Olympic shooting team medal. Almost achieving a hat-trick, she finished fourth in the women’s 25m pistol event.
Her achievements extend well beyond the Olympics, with gold medals in the 25m pistol team event at the 2023 Baku Shooting World Championships, silver in 2022, and gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Despite the challenges she faced at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Bhaker’s resilience and skill have made her a beacon in Indian sports.
This Independence Day violin tribute not only showcased her artistic side but also highlighted her profound respect and love for the nation—a moment of unity, pride, and inspiration for all Indians.
