Mont-de-Marsan, France – England’s Red Roses concluded their preparations for hosting the Women’s Rugby World Cup with a commanding 40-6 away victory over France on Saturday. This final warm-up international, played at Stade Andre-et-Guy-Boniface, saw England score six tries without reply, heading into the tournament later this month brimming with confidence.
A Display of Forward Power and Relentless Form
England, a perennial powerhouse in women’s rugby with appearances in the last six World Cup finals and a triumph in 2014, showcased a dominant performance. Their forward pack proved particularly impressive in the first half, with tries from Morwenna Talling, Amy Cokayne, and Maud Muir.
The second half saw no let-up, as Megan Jones and Lark Atkin-Davies (with two tries) added to the scoreline. Fly-half Zoe Harrison successfully converted five of the six tries, while France’s only points came from two penalties slotted by Morgane Bourgeois.
This latest victory extends England’s remarkable run to 57 wins from their past 58 internationals and marks their 16th consecutive win over France.
World Cup Schedule Ahead
England will kick off their home World Cup campaign with a Pool A clash against the United States in Sunderland on August 22.
France, who have consistently placed third in seven of the nine previous World Cups but never reached a final, are set to compete in Pool D. Their opening game will be against Italy in Exeter on August 23.
