Kolkata : After a brief but high-profile stint as India’s assistant coach, Abhishek Nayar has reopened a familiar chapter in his coaching career by returning to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Nayar, who parted ways with the Indian national team following the disappointing Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, referred to his return to KKR as coming back “home“.
In a statement that underlined his emotional bond with the franchise, Nayar remarked, “The speed with which I’ve come back shows how much I belong here. KKR isn’t just a team, it’s my family.”
Nayar had been part of the KKR coaching setup before his appointment to the Indian team and swiftly rejoined the franchise after his exit from the national side. His integral role in nurturing upcoming talents at KKR has been widely respected in Indian domestic circles.
In a parallel development, Abhishek Nayar has also stepped into the Women’s Premier League (WPL) as the head coach of the UP Warriorz. This marks his first full-time senior coaching role, signaling the next phase in his evolving coaching journey. He expressed enthusiasm about the challenge and sees it as a significant milestone in his career.
