On Thursday at the Markham Pan Am Centre, India’s Kidambi Srikanth advanced to the men’s singles quarterfinals of the Canada Open 2025. He secured his spot by defeating Wang Po-Wei of Chinese Taipei in a straight-games victory, with scores of 21-19 and 21-14. The match lasted 40 minutes. For his quarterfinal clash, Srikanth is set to face another shuttler from Chinese Taipei, who will be determined by the outcome of the Round of 16 match between Chou Tien Chen and Huang Ping-Hsien.
In the women’s singles, India’s Shriyanshi Valishetty also had a strong showing, comfortably beating Malaysia’s Karupathevan Letshanaa. Valishetty won her Round of 16 match 21-15, 21-14 in just 35 minutes. Her next opponent in the quarterfinals will be Denmark’s Amalie Schulz. Notably, Schulz progressed to this stage after upsetting the third seed, Sung Shuo Yun of Chinese Taipei, in her own Round of 16 encounter.
Later in the day, Indian shuttler Sankar Muthusamy was also scheduled to compete in his match.
