Jakarta, June 8 — The 2025 Indonesia Open concluded with standout performances from Denmark’s Anders Antonsen and South Korea’s An Se-young, both of whom emerged as champions in the singles categories at one of the most prestigious stops on the BWF World Tour.
Anders Antonsen secured his first Super 1000 title after defeating Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien-chen in straight games, 22–20, 21–14. The Dane, currently ranked third in the world, displayed a composed and tactical performance in the final, especially after narrowly edging the first game in a high-pressure setting. His victory follows a gutsy semifinal comeback against China’s Shi Yuqi, where he rebounded from a 9–21 loss in the opening game to win the next two 21–18, 21–19. This title marks Antonsen’s ninth on the World Tour, but his first at the Super 1000 level—a major milestone in his career.
In the women’s singles final, world number one An Se-young continued her exceptional form by defeating China’s Wang Zhiyi. The South Korean trailed 9–17 in the second game but showed remarkable resilience to close the gap and win the match. The victory is An’s fifth title of the 2025 season, further consolidating her dominance at the top of the women’s game. Her consistent court coverage and mental fortitude remain hallmarks of her play.
The 2025 edition of the Indonesia Open was held at the iconic Istora Senayan in Jakarta from June 3 to 8. Featuring a total prize pool of $1.45 million, the tournament attracted the top global talent and is regarded as one of the cornerstone events on the badminton calendar. As the fourth Super 1000 event of the year, it provided vital ranking points and momentum heading into the latter half of the season.
For Antonsen, this title represents a career-defining achievement and a signal of his ability to challenge consistently at the top level. For An Se-young, it further solidifies her reputation as the leading force in women’s badminton in 2025.
