In a spirited display of growing sporting talent, thirteen athletes from Arunachal Pradesh will represent the state at the 24th Junior National Wushu Championship, scheduled to be held from July 4 to 9 in Ranchi, Jharkhand.The team was flagged off recently with best wishes from sports officials, coaches, and family members, who lauded the youngsters’ dedication to the ancient martial art that has steadily gained popularity across India.The contingent comprises promising male and female wushu exponents selected after their performances at state-level events and rigorous training camps. They will compete in both Sanda (combat) and Taolu (routine) categories, showcasing a blend of agility, discipline, and fighting spirit.Leading the squad is coach Kipa Bharat, who expressed optimism about the athletes’ medal prospects. “Our players have trained hard for months and shown excellent technique and determination. We are hopeful they will return with good results and further raise the profile of wushu in Arunachal Pradesh,” he said.
Officials from the Arunachal Pradesh Wushu Association noted that the state has produced several talented wushu practitioners over the years, some of whom have gone on to excel at national and international levels. The association continues to focus on grassroots promotion and providing better training infrastructure for young athletes.The championship in Ranchi will bring together junior wushu players from across India, competing in multiple weight categories and disciplines. For many of Arunachal’s athletes, this is a crucial platform to test their skills against the country’s best and gain experience for senior-level competition in the years ahead.As the team heads into the event with high hopes and strong community support, sports enthusiasts across Arunachal Pradesh will be eagerly following their performance, cheering for the young martial artists striving to make their state proud.
