India delivered a stellar performance at the 26th Asian Athletics Championships, clinching a total of 24 medals—8 gold, 10 silver, and 6 bronze—to finish second in the overall medal tally behind China.

Key Highlights:

  • Gulveer Singh emerged as a standout athlete, securing two gold medals in the men’s 5000m and 10,000m events.
  • Avinash Sable ended India’s 36-year wait for gold in the men’s 3000m steeplechase.
  • Animesh Kujur set a new national record in the men’s 200m, earning a bronze medal.
  • Pooja Singh, at just 18 years old, claimed gold in the women’s high jump with a personal best.
  • Nandini Agasara triumphed in the heptathlon, adding another gold to India’s tally.
