India’s top-ranked doubles player Yuki Bhambri won his first ATP Tour title of 2026 on Sunday, partnering American Ryan Seggerman to capture the Almaty Open in Kazakhstan. The fourth-seeded Indo-American pair defeated Austria’s top seeds Lucas Miedler and Neil Oberleitner in a closely contested final, winning 7-6(3), 6-7(1), [10-2].

The victory marked Bhambri’s fifth career doubles title on the ATP Tour and provided a significant boost after a challenging season.

Bhambri Secures Fifth ATP Doubles Crown

Bhambri and Seggerman held their nerve in the deciding match tie-break to seal the ATP 250 title. The pair edged the opening set in a tie-break before their Austrian opponents levelled the contest by winning the second set.

The Indo-American combination then dominated the match tie-break 10-2 to secure the championship.

The triumph adds to Bhambri’s previous ATP titles in Mallorca in 2023, Gstaad and Munich in 2024, and Dubai in 2025. His Dubai victory was an ATP 500 title, achieved while partnering Australian Alexei Popyrin.

Strong Comeback After Challenging Season

The Almaty triumph comes after Bhambri finished runner-up at the Geneva Open earlier this season alongside New Zealand’s Michael Venus. It is his second ATP final of 2026 and his first title of the year.

The 34-year-old had reached a career-high ranking of 18 in February but subsequently slipped out of the top 40. His campaign at the Asian Games in Japan also ended without a medal, despite expectations of a podium finish.

Grand Slam Campaign Remains Mixed

Bhambri reached the third round of the Australian Open men’s doubles this year with Sweden’s Andre Goransson but exited in the second round at the French Open. He suffered first-round defeats at Wimbledon and the US Open alongside Venus.

His best Grand Slam result came in 2025, when he and Venus reached the US Open semifinals. The Almaty title now offers renewed momentum as Bhambri continues his campaign on the ATP Tour.
