India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty produced a superb comeback to defeat China’s He Ji Ting and Ren Xiang Yu in the China Masters final on Sunday, securing their second title of the season.
The Indian men’s doubles pair, playing their third China Masters final, recovered from losing the opening game to beat the former world No. 4 combination 11-21, 21-13, 21-17 in a thrilling one-hour, 10-minute contest.
Satwik-Chirag Complete China Masters Comeback
Satwik and Chirag struggled to find their rhythm in the opening game as He and Ren took control early and raced to a 21-11 lead.
The Indians, however, responded strongly in the second game. They raised the intensity and began dictating rallies to level the contest with a 21-13 win.
With the China Masters title within reach, Satwik and Chirag maintained their composure in the deciding game.
The Indian duo continued to put pressure on the Chinese pair and eventually closed out the decider 21-17 to complete a memorable comeback.
Indian Pair Ends China Masters Wait
The victory marks a breakthrough for Satwik and Chirag at the China Masters after they finished runners-up in the 2023 and 2025 editions.
Playing their third final at the tournament, the Indians finally went one step further to claim the prestigious title.
The triumph also underlined their strong return to competitive badminton after spending time away from the circuit.
Satwik-Chirag Secure Second Title
The China Masters victory is Satwik and Chirag’s second title of the season.
They had earlier won the Singapore Open Super 750, while also finishing runners-up at the Thailand Open Super 500.
The Indian pair’s latest triumph further strengthens their position among the world’s leading men’s doubles combinations as they continue their campaign on the international badminton circuit.
