Shreeniti Chowdhury Completes Golden Double In Bengaluru
Local favourite Shreeniti Chowdhury completed a remarkable golden double at the KSLTA World Tennis Junior J30 Bengaluru, winning both the girls’ singles and doubles titles on Saturday, while Fazal Ali Meer clinched the boys’ singles crown.
Shreeniti Chowdhury Wins Singles Title
The 15-year-old fourth seed defeated fellow Bengaluru player Aahida Singh 6-4, 6-2 in the girls’ singles final to cap an impressive week at the ITF junior tennis event.
Shreeniti then returned to the court alongside Riddhi Shinde in the girls’ doubles final and completed her double by defeating Zoha Qureshi and Deepthi Venkatesan 4-6, 6-2, 13-11 in a closely fought contest.
The Bengaluru junior tennis prospect arrived in the city after winning the ITF J60 title in Hyderabad last week and continued her excellent run at the J30 tournament.
Shreeniti Adds Doubles Crown
Shreeniti, a Class 10 student at DPS East School who trains at HLTA, showed impressive consistency throughout the tournament to secure both junior tennis titles.
Her singles victory over Aahida was followed by a dramatic doubles triumph, where she and Riddhi held their nerve in the deciding match tie-break to seal the championship.
Fazal Ali Meer Claims Boys’ Title
In the boys’ singles final, sixth seed Fazal Ali Meer defeated third seed Niyanth Badrinarayanan of the USA 6-4, 4-6, 2-0 before his opponent retired.
The boys’ doubles title went to Chukka Lakshya Vardhan and Parthiv Nallagundla, who defeated Nithinbarath KS and Abhivadya Misra 6-7 (3), 7-6 (3), 10-4 in another tightly contested final.
