Rishabh Pant became the first Indian and fourth batter overall to hit 100 sixes in Test cricket, reaching the landmark during the fourth day of India’s opening Test against Sri Lanka here on Tuesday.
Pant reached the milestone in just his 51st Test, making him the fastest batter to complete 100 Test sixes. England’s Ben Stokes previously held the record, reaching the mark in his 82nd Test.
Stokes leads the overall list with 138 sixes, followed by New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum on 107 and Australia’s Adam Gilchrist on 100.
Pant had entered the match with 97 sixes and equalled Chris Gayle’s tally of 98 during India’s first innings.
Among Indian batters, Virender Sehwag and Rohit Sharma are joint second with 91 sixes each.
