The Women’s T20 Asia Cup will begin on August 28 in Dubai, with India set to take on arch-rivals Pakistan in the tournament’s marquee Group A clash on September 5, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced on Thursday.
The eight-team competition will run until September 13, with Hong Kong facing Thailand in the tournament opener.
Groups And Format
Seven-time champions India have been drawn in Group A alongside Pakistan, Thailand, Hong Kong and China.
Defending champions Sri Lanka are placed in Group B with Bangladesh, hosts UAE and Indonesia.
Each group will follow a single round-robin format, with the top two teams progressing to the semifinals.
The semifinals are scheduled for September 10 (A1 vs B2) and September 11 (A2 vs B1), while the final will be played on September 13.
India Chasing Eighth Title
India remain the most successful team in Women’s Asia Cup history, having won seven titles — four in the ODI format (2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008) and three in the T20 format (2012, 2016 and 2022).
Sri Lanka enter the tournament as defending champions after winning the previous edition, while Bangladesh lifted the trophy in 2018.
A key Group B encounter will see Sri Lanka face Bangladesh on September 6.
