Sports Science India Launches Young Athlete Program, Empowering the Next Generation of Athletes

Bhubaneswar : Sports Science India (SSI) marked a major milestone in its mission to transform grassroots sports by successfully launching its flagship Young Athlete Program (YAP) at Happy Hours School, Saheed Nagar, Bhubaneswar. The inaugural camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 50 students, along with their parents and teachers, reflecting a growing awareness of the importance of scientific athlete development from an early age.

Designed to identify and nurture young sporting talent, the Young Athlete Program combines evidence-based sports science with practical assessments to help children understand their physical strengths and unlock their true athletic potential. The initiative focuses on physical literacy, movement analysis, fitness evaluation, injury prevention, and long-term athlete development, laying a strong foundation for healthier and more confident young athletes.

During the camp, children underwent age-appropriate sports science assessments conducted by SSI’s expert team. Parents and teachers also participated in interactive sessions on fitness, nutrition, posture, injury prevention, and the importance of structured athletic development. Each participant will receive a personalized Athlete Report Card, providing valuable insights and recommendations to support their physical growth and sporting journey.

The camp was led by Sports Physiotherapists Dr. Dibya Prakash Kar, Dr. Pooja Mehta, and Dr. Dawa Sherpa, with dedicated support from Subhadra, Sandhya, and Pravasini, ensuring the smooth execution of the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sarthak Patnaik, Founder of Sports Science India, said:

“The Young Athlete Program is our vision to bring sports science to the grassroots level. Every child deserves an opportunity to understand their physical strengths and develop in a safe, scientific, and structured environment. Through YAP, we aim to build healthier children, reduce sports-related injuries, and help identify the champions of tomorrow. We sincerely thank Happy Hours School and Principal Nidhi Dhawan for believing in this initiative and becoming our first school partner.”

Expressing her appreciation, Principal Nidhi Dhawan said the programme provided students, parents, and teachers with valuable knowledge about scientific fitness assessment and athlete development. She also expressed her enthusiasm for continuing the partnership with Sports Science India in the future.

The successful launch of the Young Athlete Program marks the beginning of a larger vision. Sports Science India plans to expand the initiative across schools in Odisha and throughout India, helping create a generation of healthier, stronger, and scientifically developed young athletes.

Because every champion deserves the right start—and every child deserves the opportunity to discover their potential.
