The National Defence Academy (NDA) has inaugurated a dedicated Sports Medicine Centre to provide specialised treatment, rehabilitation and injury prevention for cadets, marking a significant step towards enhancing their physical readiness and overall well-being.
The state-of-the-art facility has been established to address sports- and training-related injuries sustained during the academy’s rigorous physical and military programmes. Equipped with advanced diagnostic and rehabilitation technology, the centre aims to ensure faster recovery and help cadets return to training with minimal downtime.
The Sports Medicine Centre brings together a multidisciplinary team of specialists, including sports medicine physicians, physiotherapists and rehabilitation experts. Their focus will be on accurate diagnosis, evidence-based treatment, injury prevention and performance optimisation through personalised recovery plans.
Officials said the initiative reflects the NDA’s growing emphasis on scientific approaches to physical conditioning and athlete care. By integrating modern sports medicine into cadet training, the academy hopes to reduce injury-related interruptions while maintaining high standards of operational fitness.
Beyond treating injuries, the facility will also promote education on injury prevention, recovery techniques and long-term physical resilience, helping cadets better cope with the demands of military training.
The new centre is expected to play a crucial role in supporting future officers of the Indian Armed Forces by ensuring they receive world-class medical and rehabilitation support throughout their training journey.
