Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level review meeting to assess preparations for the proposed Commonwealth Games and Olympic events planned in Ahmedabad.
The meeting was attended by Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and senior government officials. Discussions focused on the development of world-class sports infrastructure and advanced training facilities in line with international standards.
In a social media post, Shah said the Narendra Modi-led government is committed to transforming India into a global sporting powerhouse by expanding state-of-the-art sports infrastructure across the country. He noted that Ahmedabad is being prepared to host marquee international sporting events, including the 2030 Commonwealth Games and India’s proposed bid for the 2036 Olympics.
Officials reviewed the progress of key sports infrastructure projects and discussed time-bound execution plans to ensure Ahmedabad meets global hosting standards. The city has intensified preparations after being recommended as the host for the 2030 Commonwealth Games, while India continues its push to secure the 2036 Olympic Games.
