SAI Support Boosting Gymnast Pranati Nayak’s Preparation for CWG, Asian Games 2026

Indian gymnast Pranati Nayak is receiving extensive support from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the Sports Authority of India (SAI), and the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) as she intensifies preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Games and Asian Games.

The Tokyo Olympian is currently training at the Senior and Junior Women’s Artistic Gymnastics National Coaching Camp underway at the High Performance Centre in Bhubaneswar from May 22 to June 20. The camp is part of India’s preparations for the upcoming 13th Senior Asian Championships scheduled to be held in Zunyi, China, from June 25 to 28.

According to officials, the government has been extending continuous support to the Indian gymnastics contingent through international exposure tours, foreign training opportunities, national camps, and financial assistance aimed at enhancing the athletes’ competitive readiness ahead of major global events.

The Bhubaneswar training camp, approved at a total cost of Rs 23.52 lakh, includes 21 campers comprising senior and junior gymnasts, coaches, and support staff. In addition, the government has sanctioned Rs 36.59 lakh to support the participation of the Indian Senior and Junior Women’s Artistic Gymnastics teams at the Asian Championships in China next month.

Pranati, one of India’s most accomplished gymnasts, created history by becoming only the second Indian female gymnast to qualify for the Olympic Games after securing a berth for the Tokyo Olympics. She is also a two-time Asian Championships bronze medallist in vault and has represented India at the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and World Championships.

The continued backing from SAI and TOPS is expected to play a crucial role in helping the Indian gymnast target podium finishes at the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games in 2026 while strengthening India’s presence in international gymnastics.
