The curtains have fallen on the 2026 Canadian Gymnaestrada, but the memories created over five unforgettable days in Regina are set to inspire Canada’s gymnastics community for years to come.
Bringing together more than 650 participants from across the country, the festival transformed gymnastics into a celebration of creativity, friendship and community rather than competition. From colourful group performances to interactive workshops and cultural exchanges, athletes of all ages and abilities showcased the true spirit of “Gymnastics for All.”
A Festival Beyond Competition
The event concluded with two days of spectacular indoor performances at the Brandt Centre, where over 30 groups took to the floor daily with routines lasting anywhere from one to 15 minutes. Every performance reflected a unique blend of storytelling, artistry and athleticism, earning loud applause from enthusiastic crowds throughout the venue.
Unlike traditional gymnastics championships, the Canadian Gymnaestrada places the spotlight on participation, inclusion and expression, encouraging performers of all ages to celebrate movement together.
Six Groups Earn Encore Honour
The closing ceremony featured a special showcase recognising the week’s standout performances. Following an opening act by Saskatchewan’s Gymnastics Adventure Acrobatics Gymnastics Team, judges selected six groups for encore performances:
- Momentum Aerial and Acrobatic Troupe (Manitoba)
- Elena’s Rhythmic Gymnastics Club (Alberta)
- Calgary Acrobatic Gymnastics Corp. (Alberta)
- Rhythmic Waves Gymnastics Club (Ontario)
- Bohemka Gymnaestrada Team (Saskatchewan)
- Pulsion Santé (Quebec)
Road to World Gymnaestrada Begins
One of the biggest moments of the closing ceremony came when Manitoba’s Momentum Aerial and Acrobatic Troupe was officially chosen as Canada’s sole representative for the Gala performances at the 2027 World Gymnaestrada in Lisbon, Portugal.
For many participants, Regina marked not the end of a journey but the beginning of preparations for the world’s largest Gymnastics for All festival, scheduled for July 2027.
Celebrating the Spirit of Gymnastics
As the event concluded, Gymnastics Canada thanked Gymnastics Saskatchewan and the Regina Hotel Association for successfully hosting the national festival.
While there were no medals to be won, the smiles, standing ovations and lasting friendships made the 2026 Canadian Gymnaestrada a reminder that gymnastics is about far more than scores—it is about bringing communities together through movement, creativity and shared passion.
