India Women’s Hockey Team Ready for Australia Challenge, Says Captain Salima Tete

The Indian women’s hockey team is leaving no stone unturned in preparation for its upcoming tour of Australia, with captain Salima Tete confident the squad is ready to handle pressure situations.

The team is currently training at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) centre in Bengaluru as part of its final preparations for the challenging overseas assignment.

Speaking ahead of the tour, Salima admitted that the team’s recent performances in Argentina exposed a few areas that need improvement, but she believes the players have responded positively during training sessions.

According to the Indian captain, the Australia tour will play a key role in helping the squad improve its game management, fitness levels and ability to perform under intense match pressure.

India sees the tour as a vital preparatory step ahead of major competitions including the FIH Nations Cup, the World Cup cycle and future continental tournaments.

The coaching staff has reportedly focused heavily on tactical discipline, speed and defensive organisation during the Bengaluru camp, while also integrating young players into the senior setup.

Salima further stressed that playing against a strong side like Australia will provide the team with valuable experience and help players adapt to high-intensity international hockey.

India’s women’s hockey team has shown steady progress over the past few years and will aim to use the Australia tour to sharpen combinations and build momentum for upcoming global competitions.
