The BCCI notice Romi Bhinder case has sparked fresh discussion during IPL 2026 after the Rajasthan Royals team manager was seen using his mobile phone in the dugout during the RR vs RCB Guwahati match.

The Rajasthan Royals phone incident took place during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru IPL match on April 10 in Guwahati. According to reports, Bhinder was spotted scrolling on his phone in the dugout, which is considered a breach of the IPL PMOA protocol rules.

Under the regulations, team managers are allowed to keep their mobile phones only in the dressing room, while electronic devices in the dugout are restricted to authorised analysts.

Following the incident, the BCCI Anti-Corruption and Security Unit launched a BCCI ACSU investigation and issued a notice asking Bhinder to explain his actions within 48 hours.

IPL chairman Arun Dhumal confirmed the development and said that officials had asked the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit to submit a detailed report regarding the incident.

Medical emergency cited behind phone use

Sources close to the Rajasthan Royals IPL news have suggested that the Romi Bhinder dugout phone use may have been linked to a medical situation rather than any deliberate violation of the rules.

According to reports, Bhinder had earlier suffered a collapsed lung and was hospitalised for a long period. The medical condition reportedly caused significant weight loss and has left him dealing with asthma-related issues.

Because of his health problems, doctors have advised him to avoid walking long distances or climbing stairs frequently. The dressing room at the venue required him to walk a considerable distance and climb steps from the dugout area.

Sources claim that this situation forced Bhinder to briefly check his phone in the dugout instead of walking back to the dressing room.

They also clarified that he was not making or receiving calls but was simply scrolling through his device.

Viral clip fuels IPL 2026 controversy

The IPL 2026 controversy gained more attention after a viral video showed young Rajasthan Royals batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi IPL incident where he was seen glancing at Bhinder’s phone.

The clip quickly circulated on social media and raised questions about whether players had access to electronic devices during the match.

However, people familiar with the matter believe Bhinder will present his explanation to the BCCI Anti-Corruption and Security Unit and hope that officials will consider his medical condition before making a final decision.

For now, the BCCI notice Romi Bhinder case remains under investigation and continues to dominate Rajasthan Royals IPL news during IPL 2026.
