London : The fifth-round picture of the 2025-26 FA Cup is now clear after an action-packed fourth round, with Premier League heavyweights and determined lower-division sides securing their places in the last 16, as reported by Sportstar.

Arsenal’s Record First Half

Arsenal stormed into the fifth round with a commanding 4-0 win over Wigan Athletic at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners struck four times inside the opening 27 minutes — a blistering start that, as noted by Sportstar, marked one of the fastest four-goal bursts by a Premier League side in this season’s competition.

The early dominance effectively ended the contest before halftime and ensured Arsenal’s smooth passage into the next stage.

Leeds Hold Their Nerve

In one of the most dramatic ties of the round, Leeds United defeated Birmingham City on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation time. Leeds converted confidently from the spot to seal their place in the fifth round, demonstrating composure under pressure in a classic cup battle.

According to Sportstar, the shootout victory highlighted Leeds’ resilience in high-stakes moments.

Other Key Results

Several other major clubs confirmed their progress:

Liverpool secured a comfortable win to advance.

Manchester City, the defending champions, continued their title defence with a professional performance.

Chelsea progressed with a convincing display.

Newcastle United, West Ham United, Fulham, Southampton, and Wolverhampton Wanderers also moved into the Round of 16 after navigating competitive fourth-round fixtures.

Among the standout lower-league stories, Wrexham continued their impressive cup run, while Mansfield Town and Norwich City ensured representation beyond the top flight.

Two ties — Port Vale vs Bristol City and Macclesfield vs Brentford — will determine the final qualifiers for the fifth round.

The Road Ahead

The fifth round is scheduled for early March, bringing the competition closer to its traditional climax at Wembley Stadium. With former champions and ambitious challengers still in contention, the 2025-26 FA Cup is shaping up to add another compelling chapter to the tournament’s storied history.

As highlighted by Sportstar, the blend of dominant performances, penalty drama and lower-division resistance once again underlines why the FA Cup remains one of football’s most unpredictable competitions.
