Dhaka :  Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today announced a 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, set to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from 7 February to 8 March, ahead of a challenging campaign in the subcontinent.

In a balance of experience and attacking talent, wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das will captain the side, aiming to inspire Bangladesh beyond their traditional group-stage barrier in T20 World Cups.

The Squad

Bangladesh’s 15-man roster blends batting depth with a potent bowling attack:

Litton Das (captain) – Leading from the front

Tanzid Hasan

Parvez Hossain Emon

Saif Hassan

Tawhid Hridoy

Shamim Hossain

Quazi Nurul Hasan Sohan

Mahedi Hasan

Rishad Hossain

Nasum Ahmed

Mustafizur Rahman

Tanzim Hasan Sakib

Taskin Ahmed

Shaif Uddin

Shoriful Islam

“We’ve picked a squad that’s familiar with these conditions and capable of making a deep run,” a BCB source told NDTV Cricket.

Bangladesh’s attack will be spearheaded by seasoned pacers Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed, offering variety with seam and swing, while the spin trio of Rishad Hossain, Nasum Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan brings tactical depth on turning tracks.

Batting largely hinges on skipper Das, backed by aggressive top-order options like Tanzid Hasan and Parvez Hossain Emon, with Saif Hassan bolstering the middle order.

The squad saw a few notable decisions: experienced middle-order batter Jaker Ali Anik and Mahidul Islam Ankon were left out of the final 15, reflecting form-based choices by selectors.

The Business Standard

Meanwhile, the team’s announcement comes against the backdrop of off-field debate: Bangladesh has reportedly requested relocation of its India-based World Cup matches to Sri Lanka, citing diplomatic and security concerns following recent tensions, particularly around Mustafizur’s release from his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise.

Group Stage Challenge

Placed in Group C, Bangladesh will kick off their campaign against the West Indies in Kolkata on February 7, followed by clashes with Italy, England and Nepal — a demanding path with only the top two sides advancing to the Super Eight stage.

As the Tigers prepare to roar on home soil and across Sri Lanka, fans will be watching closely to see if this carefully crafted unit can finally break new ground in T20 World Cup history.
