India Women capped off a dominant T20 series with a 15-run victory over Sri Lanka Women in the fifth and final T20I, completing a 5-0 clean sweep to end the year on a high.
Batting first, India posted a competitive 175 for 7 in their 20 overs after early setbacks. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur led from the front with a superb 68, steadying the innings and accelerating through the middle overs.
Amanjot Kaur contributed 21 vital runs, while Arundhati Reddy’s explosive 27-run cameo at the death pushed India to a formidable total.
In reply, Sri Lanka were restricted to 160 for 7, despite a spirited chase. After losing captain Chamari Athapaththu early, Hasini Perera and Imesha Dulani revived hopes with a strong partnership.
Dulani brought up her maiden T20I fifty, while Perera top-scored with a fluent 65 off 42 balls. Sri Lanka were well placed at 86/1 after 11 overs, but the momentum shifted when Amanjot Kaur dismissed Dulani, triggering a slowdown.
India’s bowlers then took control, with all six bowlers picking up a wicket each, backed by sharp fielding.
For her match-defining knock and leadership, Harmanpreet Kaur was named Player of the Match.
Meanwhile, Shafali Verma was adjudged Player of the Series, after scoring an outstanding 241 runs at an average of 80.33, underlining her consistency and impact at the top of the order.
2025 has been a landmark year for women’s cricket, and even more special for the Women in Blue, who earlier in the year clinched their maiden ODI World Cup title at home in front of a jubilant crowd. Finishing the season with a 5-0 T20I whitewash made the celebrations sweeter. With the focus now shifting to 2026 and the Women’s T20 World Cup in England, India will carry strong momentum into the global event, closing the year on a perfect note.
